ADRC Volunteer Spotlight: Brock Zieske & Debbie Delvaux

by | Feb 27, 2023 | Blog, Volunteer

We are happily delivering this article to you just like Homebound Meal Driver Brock Zieske delivers meals to our meal recipients.

Brock enjoys helping others out any way that he can and tries to make someone’s day better every day! He says delivering meals for ADRC’s Homebound Meal Program gives him a nice chance to share a smile and conversation with many people who otherwise might not have that opportunity. The interactions with the other volunteers and meal recipients are always very positive, which is contagious and makes him happy.

One of his favorite interactions on his delivery route is an individual that keeps him up to date on various sports stats and news, which he doesn’t otherwise have time to keep track of. She always has an interesting update for him and Brock enjoys their conversations.

Brock also volunteers with his 14-year-old daughter, Annalise, at the De Pere Christian Outreach Thrift Store. They primarily work in donation intake but help with whatever is needed when they’re there. This past October, they even got to be models in their first annual Fashion Cents fashion show fundraising event. He said it’s a lot of fun and a great place to get older kids volunteering.

When he’s not working or volunteering, Brock loves spending time with his three kids, playing games, and hanging out at their trailer on the Peshtigo flowage.

We’re also shining a spotlight on ADRC Volunteer Debbie Delvaux. She has been donating her time to ADRC since 2017.

Wearing many hats, Debbie started out as a Bingo caller. Currently, she spends her time helping in Grounded Cafe, running the rock painting class, and co-facilitating the knitting/crochet group.

Her favorite things about volunteering are getting to interact with everyone, making new friends, and being able to discuss her thoughts and opinions with others. She loves helping others and working with everyone in the cafe.

When she’s not volunteering, Debbie enjoys crocheting baby blankets for her church, rock painting, photography, music, and writing books and poems.

A quote she likes to live by is, “To thine own self be true.” In her opinion, this means whatever happens in this world will not affect you through mind, body, and soul. Love this world for what it is.
