Checks from the Government

by | Mar 18, 2020 | Blog, COVID19, Fraud, Scam

There have been reports that the government may send out money, via check or direct deposit, due to the toll of the Coronavirus. This is not implemented at this time, so if someone states that they can get you the money now, it is a scam.

Scams are expected to increase surrounding this. Please keep in mind that the government:

  • Will never ask you to pay something up front (fees, charges, etc)
  • Will not ask for your Social Security number, bank account, or credit card number.

For more information, please read the complete article published by Associate Director, Division of Consumer and Business Education, FTC: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2020/03/checks-government?utm_source=govdelivery

If you spot one of these scams, please tell the Federal Trade Commission: www.ftc.gov/complaint.
