ADRC Staff Highlight: John Plageman

by | Dec 9, 2020 | Blog

You may have called ADRC and spoke to a staff member over the phone or perhaps you stopped in and met with someone directly. Whichever form of communication you may have used, you likely did not learn much about the individual assisting you. This is because our goal is to provide you with unbiased information and resources to assist you through life’s changes. Since building relationships is also one of our goals, we will feature a brief snippet on an ADRC/Grounded Café staff member occasionally for your reading pleasure.

This month, we bring you the low down on John Plageman (AKA JP). He has been part of the ADRC Family for nearly 7 years. As an Information & Assistance Specialist, every day is different for him which is one of the things he loves about working here. He fields phone calls and meets with customers to help provide resources that may assist them through life’s journey. There are times when assisting customers that JP can hear the stress in their voice from being overwhelmed and not knowing what to do. After their conversation, when he hears the calmness return to their voice, is why he enjoys what he does every day.

When he’s not at work, JP enjoys going to sporting events and concerts, particularly concerts that involve camping out at Alpine Valley. He’s a fan of Jamband music and sites Phish, Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, and Leftover Salmon as a few of his favorite bands.

As a Packer season ticket holder, his goal every year is to take someone to a game that has never been to Lambeau. Collecting Wisconsin sports memorabilia is his favorite hobby. And, his bucket list vacation spots are Nashville, Boston (Brewers vs. Red Sox game), Maine (eat lobster until he can’t walk), and New Orleans Jazzfest.

“Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace.”

— Serenity Prayer
