I’m looking for what changed, be it yesterday or maybe later today.
But when I realize
It’s just the same. Then that’s ok,
The same is sane. I stay the same.
And the change that happens,
Well it’s just the rain. It’s just the seasons pushing off again. Against each other touching sound,
And stays safe above, cannot reach the ground. Does not try to coax, formulate, or facsimile. Does not dot the I’s, does not cross the T’s.
Cannot fathom loss or call for comfort cold. Has no faith to believe
Has no grudge to hold. Hasn’t mustered courage
And does not cry for love.
The sky holds up with not a thing to prove. And all the while the white sands turn. Into a focus, into a blur.
Into each other,
Into a mirror.
Into a new day, bright as a spark.
Into the deeps of ocean dark.
The windy tales
Roll on without, a hold or plans on holding out. Cannot contain,
Cannot remember.
Just shapes the land
With faceless hands. And takes no pains to move the grains.
Here is change. And perhaps the range of where it weathers. Or where it lays.
And here am I
And what shall I say, into an evening full of luft? When the spring grows bare each tiny tuft of green that shows, but just enough,
To prove there’s more behind the vine
Than bitter grape
Or brown-ed twine.
The refill of thine spirits can, and return as the morning view
Change not and wondrous always so, these constants be the only show.

My observation on an early morning bike ride up Ernst Dr.

A chimney sweep? A chimney sweep! A chimney sweep!

Riding a ’50 Schwinn, white, pink stripe, no speeds, just brakes, reflector, no helmet. Not the sweep – his white utility SUV announced chimney sweep. Fully insured and licensed – full of shiny snaked aluminum tubes.

Not the brushes, not the soot, not the chimney sweep, only sounds on high. Riding a 50’s Schwinn for further inspection.

A chimney sweep? A chimney sweep! An honest to God 2010 chimney sweep appeared. No, no broom, dark plaid shirt, overalls, a ladder against the house – a chimney sweep. A 2010 chimney sweep – no kidding!
