Jose Garcia Chevrestt
“In this life, it is not to do what you want, but to want what you do.” This gentleman certainly projects a love for what he does. Singing old Spanish tunes with a grin from ear to ear, I give you Jose Garcia Chevrestt.
Jose serves on our Board of Directors as well as assists in ADRC’s Community Cafe. He has been an asset in both roles as he is able to translate for our Hispanic customers that join us for lunch as well as represent the Hispanic community on
our Board.
Jose has made the lunchtime duo of Doug and Bob a dynamic lunchtime trio. The happiness and laughter that comes from our dining room, thanks to those three, is music to our ears. We certainly feel lucky to have Jose with us, but he says he is the lucky one. When he walks into ADRC, it feels warm and inviting and feeds his soul, like his own paradise. He loves helping people and tries to find the good in everything and everyone.
When he’s not busy at ADRC, Jose fuels his longtime love for cooking. Having owned Grandpa’s Home Cooking in Neenah and a food truck in Puerto Rico, he has plenty of experience creating tasty Puerto Rican dishes. He cooks from the heart, saying people feel the love from his cooking. He attributes his cooking skills and happy, outgoing personality to his grandparents, having spent many of his younger years with them.
His hobbies don’t stop with cooking. He enjoys photography, especially anything nature-related. He loves eagles and cites the story of “The Rebirth of the Eagle” as one of his favorites. If you’re not familiar with it, we recommend you check it out. It’s a beautiful story that talks about transformation and determination. He has passed this story on to his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
Pat Brault
ADRC has been lucky enough to call Pat a volunteer since 2016! You know it’s going to be a great day when you see Pat’s smiling face in the building, typically decked out in her favorite color, purple.
When she’s here, she’s typically helping with Brain Enrichment classes, teaching crochet, and working with the rock painting group. Volunteering is very rewarding to her. She has a passion for helping people and believes everyone you meet is a new experience in your life.
Another quality that makes Pat so special is that she will be your biggest cheerleader. As people get older, they tend to think they can’t do or learn certain things and Pat loves helping to show that they can! Perhaps this quality came from the years of Pat being a teacher. She taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math for 32 years – 6 of those years spent as principal.
The most important thing she treasures in her life is her family. She has 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Pat loves spending time with them and making all of the special people in her life laugh.
