ADRC Staff Spotlight: Mary Ellen Murphy-Katarincic

You may have called ADRC and spoke to a staff member over the phone or perhaps you stopped in and met with someone directly. Whichever form of communication you have used, you likely did not learn much about the individual assisting you. This is because our goal is to provide you with unbiased information and resources to assist you through life’s changes. However, building relationships is also one of our goals – so meet our team!

Meet Mary Ellen, one of our ADRC Specialists. She has been here at ADRC for 4 months and she enjoys helping customers that present as walk-ins or call us looking for assistance to connect with resources specific to their current needs. She also enjoys assisting in connecting customers to our other departments, such as the benefits team, the caregiver team, or the dementia care specialist, if they could use more detailed and specific resources for those topics.

Her favorite part of the job so far is hearing everyone’s stories, meeting them where they are at, and getting them connected to resources that will help them get where they would like to be.

If she were given a magic wand to create or change a community support or resource, she would create safe, affordable, and reliable programs and services for individuals who need help with housing and mental health services. Her dream would be for it to be something people could access immediately without needing to wait months, would be sustainable, and would meet the increasing needs in the community.

Ideal Vacation: My ideal vacation would be on a warm beach somewhere at a fancy resort where everything is included.

Hobby: My favorite hobby is collecting crystals and learning about their metaphysical properties.

Fun Fact: A fun fact about myself is that I am ambidextrous.
