00:00:03:01 - 00:00:20:04 Shinie Tho The ADRC stands for the Aging and Disability Resource Center. So we're a nonprofit organization that stays up to date with all the resources related to the aging population, individuals with disabilities, along with their caregivers. 00:00:20:05 - 00:00:43:13 Devon Christianson We have this incredible mission, which is really to help people live their best possible life. But we also have another mission, which is to help prevent and delay people needing to go into institutional care. It's where our value is to the government, being a government funded but yet a nonprofit organization. We really, focus on helping people stay exactly where they want to be, which is at home. 00:00:43:15 - 00:00:54:02 Devon Christianson And so that's what we're about. We meet with you, talk with you, help you get connected to all of the resources possible that keep you as independent as possible. 00:00:54:04 - 00:01:13:22 Amy Staniforth The ADRC is kind of that first step, no wrong door kind of place, when you're not sure what's available. We have education. We have socialization, and we have all the connecting resources that are available in our community to kind of meet anybody's needs. 00:01:14:00 - 00:01:30:05 Devon Christianson We have nothing to sell. Our job is to be neutral and unbiased, which just basically means that we want to know every possible resource, and we aren't here to tell you the best choice. We're here to present you with all the possible options that make the best sense to you. 00:01:30:10 - 00:01:40:08 Mike Schoenebeck We don't give advice. We give information. We're very strong on that. And also, if you give us any personal information, we can't give it to anybody else. 00:01:40:10 - 00:01:50:07 Devon Christianson People can call. They can walk in. They can make an appointment. They can ask for a home visit. They simply come and tell their story. 00:01:50:09 - 00:02:07:21 Janet Schoenebeck The people here have reached out and are so open, and they have so many resources, that it really is a shining example of a place for aging and disabled people to find information about programs that that they can take advantage of, they wouldn't know about otherwise. 00:02:07:23 - 00:02:26:23 Amy Staniforth I am the prevention specialist here at the ADRC. Prevention really is health and wellness education and classes. A big goal of ours is to reach people before things become a health crisis or concern. So just trying to get ahead of the game. 00:02:27:01 - 00:02:39:08 Alma Costa We have a lot of programs here for people who want to socialize. We have a lot of workshops here. We have ukulele workshops, we have yoga, we have crochet and knitting, we have rock painting. 00:02:39:09 - 00:03:09:17 Devon Christianson Our cafe is meant to be a training location for persons with disabilities. Reducing stigma, helping people to be at the front of the house that you're seeing and interacting with and seeing what incredible abilities folks do have. That cafe food we make ourselves. And we were able to purchase an accessible food truck, one of the few around the state, so people in wheelchairs can actually work inside the food truck. And we're able to bring that food to the people. 00:03:09:18 - 00:03:25:15 Jeremy Slusarek See all ages, all abilities. It's pretty incredible, actually, the variety of people. I've been here for 26 years now, and, every day is new faces, new people. Heartwarming. It's just uplifting to come in here and see who's coming and experience us for the first time. 00:03:25:17 - 00:03:41:17 Anne Tobias-Becker I love coming here. I love the cafe because you can come in here and people, with their own challenges, are working in the cafe. And I wish the whole world could be like the ADRC. They're a lot of a lot of people have challenges, but everyone fits in. 00:03:41:19 - 00:03:57:06 Peggy Collinsmith The ADRC has done a lot for this community, and it's a resource that people don't know exists until you need it. And a lot of times people don't want to need it because that means that you need help and they're here to help and without any kind of judgment. 00:03:57:07 - 00:04:25:20 David Sinkula When my parents were in need and my wife's parents were in need, we came here and they supported us with benefits specialists, with the home delivered meal program. So it was supportive for our families. Secondly, it's prepared me for aging because I see what I see with the resources are. I know, kind of what the pitfalls are of the aging. 00:04:25:22 - 00:04:41:16 David Sinkula And so it's helped my wife and me to prepare for that. And thirdly, as a volunteer, it's allowed me to give back for the good life that I've had so far. 00:04:41:18 - 00:04:57:19 Devon Christianson We have over 250 volunteers that make this place rock, and so they join in. They want to be a part of it. And so we see our volunteers are extension of our staff. We could not do this work. We could not do this work without our volunteers. 00:04:57:20 - 00:05:17:14 Mark DeCleene This organization is great because they serve the people in their needs, whether it be the Meals on Wheels or other parts of this organization. They're just there for the people. The people need help. They come to ADRC, and they'll either they can't help, they'll find help for them. They're an amazing organization.
